PESOnality: Success is in Percentages
I’ve been so blessed by the four-part talk series of the Feast entitled “Pesonality”. It’s about how to prosper in your finances by developing a strong character because life is not just about “getting rich” but “being rich”. Talk 1: Make Your 100%
“While you’re there, be fully there”
Sometimes, it’s hard to give our hundred percent into something. I, myself, am guilty of doing things half-baked or settling for mediocrity. But then, we have to realize that being our “best self” is our gift to the world. There is something that we can do than no one else can and when we fail to do our part in the best way possible, we are robbing the world (and life) of its beauty. So let’s give our best in everything, may it be a simple task. When we are required to do 20, make it 25 or more. Exceed expectations!
Talk 2: Magnify Your 10%
“Have the hunger to have more so you can give more.”
“When you tithe, you become entitled to the harvest.”
I am not used to the term “tithing” as most Catholics are. Because tithing is not required by the Church, rather, the Church encourages generosity. The Old Testament talks about tithing but the New Testament doesn’t – it doesn’t say give your ten percent to God, it actually says give your ALL. In the recent months, I’ve come to believe in the beauty not of tithing per se, but of giving in general. When we give a portion of our treasures to the Church or to other institutions that help the poor, we become blessings to our less fortunate brothers and sisters. We become God’s instruments, we become tangible manifestation of His love and kindness.
Talk 3: Multiply Your 20%
‘Endure now, enjoy later”.
I love this talk so much because it teaches the value of saving and living simply. Sometimes, we are too overwhelmed by the idea of owning material things that we forget to think about our future and how we carelessly throw away our resources for unnecessary things. When we are tempted to splurge and waste away our hard earned money, just reflect on this and make a decision: Plant in the Spring or Beg in the Fall?
